As unsupervised play on our playgrounds increase, children are left with a very thin understanding of how to manage their own play time. For some children, initiating peer interaction and joining play develops naturally, however, for others, unstructured play can be a frustrating and isolating time.
Playground Pals is a 45 minute class offered at Unlimited Sports Action. The class introduces basic sport skill concepts but also incorporates playground-type games to build self-confidence among peers. Each week the coaches will work on social skills with the children such as initiating a game, staying in a group, appropriate tagging, full body listening, and game rules, just to name a few. The coaches will provide parents with a handout of the day’s activities.
